Download BlackBerry App World in an unsupported country

** Update **

Guys, following post is no more valid. Even if you get App World on your phone, it will not connect to the server as long as you are in an un-supported country connected through an un-supported career.

BlackBerry App WOrldBlackBerry App Worldis RIM’s official application store for BlackBerry Apps. Quite interestingly, the app store is not available in all countries. There is a list of countries that are supported and many countries are left out. The store is available in countries like United Sates, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany France and a few more to buy and download apps. In addition, App World is also available in some countries where people can only download Free apps. They cannot buy these apps. App World with free-apps-only mode is available in countries like China, Brazil, Mexico, Hong Kong, Thailand etc. You can view the whole list of supported countries here.

If you are not in a country where BlackBerry app world is supported, you are out of luck. You can’t download the app world from RIM’s website. Though we have a bit of a workaround for that. You can user your BlackBerry browser to hit this link :  http://bit.ly/bbappsworld . Make sure you open it using your BlackBerry phone, not your PC browser to launch the installer that will install BlackBerry app world  on your phone. Please note that you will not be able to buy or view any paid app but you will be able to download, use and review the free apps at least.

Compatibility

I have tested this link on BlackBerry Bold 9700 as well as on a Storm 9530. Let me know if it works for your or not.

Thanks for pointing out S. S. Hussain!

I’m adding a section of compatibility list to the article. Can you tell me which handset you are getting error on? We can add compatible and non-compatible handsets to the list.

I have been surfing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will be much more useful than ever before.

As a long time BB user I have been waiting for the Storm with much anticipation. I could not be more satisfied. BB has done it right with their first entry into the touch screen market. The phone is not perfect, but it meets or exceeds every one of my expectations.

Uh, I’m having problems with the download. Fails halfway through. Code 907. Using BB 8130. I really need app world, but my phone is unable to download it through the official site. Please help?! Thanks in advance.

This kind of installation used to work with my BB9700 until today. Starting today, whenever I get into AppWorld I receive an error message stating “BB AppWorld is having trouble connecting to the BB App World Server. Verify your network connection and try again”.
Obviously the net connection is working just fine. I got reports that more such installs got this error message lately so there might be some changes on RIM side.
    Any known workarounds for this?

I have Appworld 2 installed on my BB Curve 8900. But I am not able to connect as it gives an error “App World is not available in your country, Please contact your system administrator …….”
Similarly, FB Application is not getting connected and Gives the Error “We are unable to connect to Facebook Servers at this time, ……..”
    My career is Ufone……
Is there a way that i can connect

Ahmad, I think we are in a similar boat. The issues of connectivity you are having are because of the restriction and blocking of BB services. All careers in Pakistan have blocked BB services partially so your Twitter, Facebook etc does’nt work. Even your native BB browser is busted as well. I cant think of a solution till RIM and PTA has some agreement on things.

They had it in Saudia, I don’t know if they’ll have a consensus here in PK or not.

Unfortunate man, this is an old post, let me update that.

There’s no way you can do that. Even if you have app world on your phone, you cannot connect to it if you are in Pakistan.
