Admob is the popular ads site for Mobile applications and websites. Admob.com is experiencing an outage and is not allowing users to log on to the system. This is the first time I’ve experienced this since Google has taken over the company. This is only the outage on the website. Ads are being served fine both on sites as well as apps.
Lets see how long they stay offline. Do post if you have any related updates.
Mark Zuckerberg – Founder of Facebook has announced in an open letter to all Facebook users that the National and Regional networks have grown too big and will be removed from Facebook. I don’t find that any problem as I never joined such a network, but all of you who have, please do comment what that means to you. Is that a welcome change or a put-off?
Nokia has announced that 2010 will be the last year their N-Gage gaming platform and N-Gage arena will be operational. This is because of two things. Firstly, I’m very doubtful that Nokia achieved their targets from the N-Gage brand. Secondly, Nokia is really seriously pushing their service brand OVI. So any gaming related to Nokia will now be called OVI-Games.
Nokia has played the N-Gage card twice. Initially they launched Nokia N-Gage devices that looked like a small gaming console and were amazing for playing games. The devices were named Nokia n-gage and Nokia n-gage-QD respectively. On the in-side, they were simple Symbian S60 smartphones with symbian or J2ME games to play on.
Second time they used N-Gage brand was with their latest line of N-Series phones that could install an application named N-Gage. You could download, install and games right from the N-Gage app itself. No doubt N-Gage games have been great but I think its about time Nokia moves on. Second attempt to use N-Gage brand doesn’t work out again in my opinion.
Facebook is now supporting 70 languages. As compared to the earlier post, Facebook has added 6 languages in five months and the Facebook users themselves have played a great role in translating the site. Here’s the list of languages Faceboook supports.

To watch the transmission either visit this site or CLICK HERE after you have installed the real-player on your system. Please note that this transmission is in English, unlike the Saudi TV where you only get to hear Arabic commentary. This feed is from Huda TV that is based in Jeddah.
While you watch this hajj transmission live online, please do pray that Allah Almighty forgive us and calls us again and again to be part of the Hajj again and again. Hajj is probably the largest gathering of people on earth that is repeated every year.
Today is the day of Arafah, tonight the pilgrims will spend their nights in Muzdalifah and will return to their tents in Minah. Stoning of Jamarah and Tawaaf of the Holy Kaaba …. its all happening there and as I was unable to go this year, I’m watching it live online.

Google announces two new features of its already popular YouTube service. The new features are:
Auto Caption: If your video has English conversation or commentary, YouTube will attempt to make subtitles out of it and show at the bottom of the screen.
Auto timing: In case you want to upload your own captions in text, you don’t have to worry about the timings. Which sentence from your text file was spoken at what time, YouTube will attempt to pick it up itself.
Both these features is a good news for hearing impaired users of YouTube in particular and everybody else in general. You can watch this video to get the overview of the service.
Google chrome OS was announced back in July and today Google announces that the project is open-source now. Its free and its available. You have access to Google chrome’s code base, initial design and some user interface experiments.
Three most important things that come as part of the announcement are:
Every application on Chrome OS will be a web application. Nothing gets installed and everything stays online. That makes it more secure, easy, accessible and reliable.
Its super secure and self healing. It will be real hard to infect and harm this OS and every time the OS will boot, it’ll check for integrity and will self heal if needed.
Last but not least, get ready for the super speeds. From pressing the power button to surfing the Internet, it’ll take a few seconds. Google is optimizing it to its max.
Its already much more than something to get excited about but it’ll take some time. The OS will be available for the users around November 2010 or so. Anything that comes out before it definitely fake 🙂
Last but not least, you must watch following videos about the Chrome OS
And by any chance if you want to build on top of the code, chromium.org is the place to start.
Pakistanis are catching up real fast on all aspects of online life. Online advertisements and sales is also one aspect. This ad I just saw on Facebook is an evidence of my comment 🙂
BTW, all you guys living in non-Muslim countries, how do you give your Qurbani?
New Google Translate is fun to use. Type your source text and see the translation appearing at the bottom of the page in the destination language. This is absolutely amazing to watch. You can easily switch the source and destination languages, can suggest a better translation and can upload the documents to translate. Google Translate remains very simple yet becomes more powerful.
